I found her by way of my physical therapist who HIGHLY recommended her, and frankly, I can't imagine being any happier with the care I received.
When I first came to see her, she felt pretty certain that I had a bone infection, but my labs didn't confirm that. She asked me do some bone stimulator therapy and give it a reasonable amount of time to stimulate bone growth. When it didn't work, we agreed to go forward with a repair surgery (because she was taking on a mess that I was left with from another surgeon).
Scraping samples taken during surgery confirmed her conviction that I had a bone infection. The surgery was successful, but I was admitted to the hospital for a week to receive intense antibiotic therapy, and then I was sent home with a PICC line to my heart that I had to keep for 8 weeks for daily home antibiotic IV therapy.
Regular PostOp follow-ups throughout this process showed, that because of her expert intervention, bone growth was finally evident!
After more than a year of terrible pain and an unusable arm working with the original surgeon (who constantly assured me that the failed fixation surgery had been a success!), I finally began to heal!
Today, my arm feels wonderful and the full use of it has been restored.
I feel so incredibly grateful to Dr Nancy Yen Shipley for her amazing skill, patient encouragement, and wonderful kindness.
If you need an orthopedic surgeon, I truly believe it's impossible to find a better one!

Paying for Your Care
Insurance, Out-of-Network Benefits, and Flexible Payment Options
We believe that you deserve exceptional, individualized care—care that prioritizes your goals, your performance, and your long-term mobility. That’s why we provide a clear, patient-centered approach to payment and insurance, whether you’re using insurance or paying out of pocket.
Do you take insurance?
Yes—we are in-network with a number of insurance plans, and we’re happy to verify your benefits ahead of your appointment. For plans where we are not in-network, we can often still see you using your out-of-network benefits, and we’ll walk you through what that means and how it impacts your costs.
What does it mean to see an out-of-network physician?
Choosing an out-of-network provider gives you the freedom to select the physician you trust—rather than one your insurance plan chooses for you. Many patients find this especially valuable when they want access to specialized care, advanced treatments, or a doctor who takes the time to understand their goals and lifestyle.
While it’s true that out-of-network providers bill separately from your insurance, this doesn’t necessarily mean significantly higher costs—especially if you have a high-deductible plan, already met your deductible, or have out-of-network coverage.
What if I need surgery? Will it be covered?
The good news: the majority of surgical costs—typically 80–90%—come from the facility, anesthesia, and other associated services, which are often in-network with your insurance. That means only a small portion—usually 10–20%—comes from the surgeon’s fee, even if the surgeon is out-of-network.
We perform surgeries at a variety of facilities with broad insurance participation, so in most cases, you can still use your insurance for the majority of your surgical costs.
Do you offer payment plans or financing?
Yes. We offer flexible payment options, including 0% financing through Cherry, to make care more accessible. Click here to learn more about Cherry. Whether you’re paying for part of your surgery or a regenerative treatment not covered by insurance, our team can help you find a solution that works with your budget.
You can also use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) toward many services.
What about regenerative medicine or other cash-pay treatments?
Some of the most cutting-edge therapies we offer—like platelet-rich plasma (PRP), microfragmented adipose tissue (MFAT), and other regenerative treatments—are not yet covered by insurance. These are considered cash-pay services, but we are transparent about pricing and offer financing options to make them accessible.
Investing in Your Future Health
We understand that choosing to invest in your health can feel like a big decision—but it’s also one of the most important. We live in a world where people don’t hesitate to finance vacations, luxury fitness equipment, or lifestyle upgrades. Your mobility, independence, and longevity deserve the same priority.
Think of this not as a cost, but as an investment in your future self—your ability to stay active, strong, and pain-free for the years ahead.
